Internal Projects
New goals and projects for our community will be listed here when capacity of the board and committee chairs allow. If you have any concerns on a project not listed here please feel free to reach out to us on the contacts page.
SurveysFor Hampton Place to continue to grow and evolve, the community leaders and volunteers need to understand what the residents want and expect. All surveys will never ask any personal identifiable information. This is to encourage all survey takers to talk freely with their concerns. After the surveys are gathered, the volunteers of the community will decipher them and add/modify the community goals for the year. You will also start to see more mini surveys on recent events to gather targeted helpful information on how specific initiatives are doing. See attached for results of the past surveys.

Security Cameras at the poolAfter years of harsh winters and summers the security camera system at the pool needed to be replaced. This has been completed with the installation of new equipment.

ClubhouseThe clubhouse project is still under negotiations with the board. This project has many aspects involved that the board is carefully weighing. As of now, the clubhouse is not approved as part of the 2016 goals. Next steps include researching all aspects to a project like this including (but not limited to) financial, development and risks.

External Projects
External projects are high level descriptions and summaries of projects not owned or managed by Hampton Place. These projects will affect the neighborhood with construction, additional amenities and/or community improvements. We the board and committee leaders are committed to staying in tune with these projects and providing details as we set this information. If you are aware of an external project that will affect our community, reach out to us with details and we will post updates for everyone to be aware of.
GreenwayThe Hampton Place greenway entrance will be located at the end of Lookout Point Dr. Although this project has been plagued with delays, opening of greenway entrance is scheduled for Spring 2016.
Bid for the bridge went well and drawings have been completed. Bidding for the path and general construction went above budget. County accounting approves the additional funding but it takes time to move and allocate the money appropriately. Due to this setback, ground breaking was moved to June with a late July opening. HERE is the drawings of the connection and bridge. |
Clark Creek ParkThe land is located near Croft Community Elementary School and across from the Hucks Nature Preserve. Charlotte Mecklenburg Park and Recreation presented design options for the public to choose from. Choices included: a playground, community garden, shelters, trails, open lawns, basketball court, splash park, skateboarding, and "other". The most popular "other" seems to be a dog park.
Park and Rec will compile the ratings for the various options and see how much we can get with the funds allocated. Hopefully, we'll have a final design soon, and a brand new park to enjoy! |
Prosperity VillageThe City of Charlotte is developing an area plan for the Prosperity Hucks area (see boundary map above) which will serve as a policy guide for future growth and development.

Hampton Place Cemetery ImprovementsCharlotte Mecklenburg County has started work on clean up and managing the Cemetery along Lookout Point and Suttonview Dr. The extent of the work will include a clean-up of underbrush, removal of dead trees and fallen limbs, a radar survey of the land, fencing and signs. The plan is not to disturb the gravesites but rather archive their number, determine boundaries, and properly mark their locations. Completion of this project is tentatively scheduled July.

Google fiberOne of the most exciting projects for 2016 is the installation a new Google Fiber system in Hampton Place. There is NO COST to residents for the installation of infrastructure and once installed, we will have a new choice of provider for television and high-speed internet services. Installation has already begun with the construction of the underground conduit network and is planned to be completed in about 12 months with the installation of state-of-the-art fiber lines.
